possibility that they might be wrong. As Shearlock Holmes said, " No matter how illogical the solution seems, if you have eliminated all other possibilities. The remaining possibility must be the correct solution."
There is evidence to support Venus having once harboured intelligent life that even a person with access to a library could get. Firstly the upper atmosphere of Venus has stuff like hydrochloric acid and another type of acid. These are complex compounds so how did they get there. The next thing is the fact that Venus's surface is estimated to be only 500 millions years old. They say this may have been caused by a massive volcano that resurfaced the planet yet they have no proof, it remains a mystery. I do not have any proof for my theory either but it in my view it seems a lot more likely that the entire surface was covered with trees for a hundred million years or so. Logic would also say that if 500 million years ago a volcano resurfaced the planet then another volcano would have covered some of the surface since then but alas no sign of that either. The other piece of evidence is the fuss that was made when a meteorite was found that contained fossils of microbes. They said it came from Mars because it didn't match the earth's or the moon's characteristics. They didn't even mention Venus. Meteorites are more likely to come from Mars but it is still possible for one to come from Venus. There are 11 other rocks from Mars so it stands to reason that we should have found one from Venus. The rock ALH40021 or something, is green, the other 11 are Mars coloured. The rock has fossils of life the other 11 are completely dead. This would suggest to me that it didn't come from Mars, or at least there being a possibility of it coming from somewhere else.
Moving on from Venus and thinking about the solar system as a whole. As I mentioned before the scientists claim the whole solar system is only 4.6 billion years old but the theory on how it is formed would suggest that the process would take a long time to form all the planets. I have read that someone has come up with a time scale of about 100 million years to form the solar system but this sounds to me like someone jamming bits of jigsaw together to make them fit.
This 4.6 billion number comes from the carbon dating; nothing has ever been dated that is older than 4.6 billion years. The scientists seemed to have taken this to mean that nothing is older than 4.6 in our solar system. I know that carbon dating is performed by knowing the half-life of a radioactive element and measuring how much radioactiveness is left. If nothing has ever been dated older than 4.6 billion years old, how can they know that it's able to date anything over 4.6 billion years old. This is something quite fundamental and if it is wrong, why then, it affects all other theories that make up our knowledge of the solar system. If they knew that solar system was say 10 billion years old and earth 4 billion years old and Venus 5 billion years old then they might fathom that life has existed before us in the solar system.
The question of Mars is quite simple, it had a brief warm spell caused by a freak occurrence and the ice melted, surged to the surface and perhaps formed an atmosphere. When it cooled down again it was unable to contain any warmth and froze up. Mars will though be the next living planet, as the suns output increases Mars will warm and once liquid appears on the surface the atmosphere will thicken.      This will in turn warm the planet even more. The plans to speed up this process with the aid of man is a good idea but it will still take far to long and we humans could still have no where to live.
Scientists are presently looking for signs of microbe life on other planets like Mars and Europa but they are not going to check Venus. "Venus is to hot nothing could live on Venus."
If my theory is correct some species on Venus would have survived the global warming and then would have been able to evolve even up to now where the temperature is 500 degrees in and out of the sun. If we discover that this is the case it will greatly increase our understanding of our fate and perhaps prevent it!
